My FixHub is dead, won't turn on or charge

Subject says it all. It's dead. It won't charge. It won't do anything. It's bricked. Any suggestions??

Thanks. Tried to install firmware but get an error.

That is after it was bricked. The firmware update didn't do it.

If you bought the FixHub relatively early (i.e., while it was designated as being on pre-order on iFixit's website, maybe around February-March 2025), then you may have early firmware that had an issue where the device wasn't able to charge over cables & wall outlets with PD, as described here. Use a USB-A to USB-C cable (which lacks PD) to flash the newer firmware, as a desktop/laptop will be able to supply enough power for the FixHub to enter DFU mode.

Also remember to update the firmware of the Fixhub soldering iron, as you can only update by plugging it directly into a computer with the FixHub web console.
