Is it possible to replace a motherboard that has damage by water?

Basically dropped my iPhone 3GS in water and it damged my motherboard. I want to know if I can replace it with a new one. I also want to know if it will work again?

Yeah, it can be replaced.

Here is the iFixit guide documenting the steps:

And it'll work just fine as long as you install it correctly and work carefully.
