Replacement screen doesn't fit

The phone I am trying to repair is a Motorola XT 2141-1 type MC3A0 and the new screen fits 99% perfect but from the back side in the upper left corner the old phone has a counterboard and the new one does not. this is preventing the phone from going together all the way.

did I end up with the wrong screen?
