@mardi47720 anytime you have a partial failure of your touchscreen, you must consider a failed digitizer. On your phone it is "sandwiched" with the display assembly. That means you should replace it all at the same time. Since iFixit does not yet have a specific guide for this, use something like this video Once you opened the back cover, check the connector for your digitizer and make sure that it is fully seated. If it does not make full contact, you could have the same issues. If it is properly connected, proceed with changing the display assembly.
Replacement assemblies (screen) are readily available at many online stores. I suggest you get one that has the midframe already installed (that will be most of them). It'll make the repair easier.
While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has a device with the same issues as you do. It's easy and fun to create these guides. https://ifixit.com/Guide/new The iFixit community will appreciate this.

If the top half of the screen is unresponsive to touch. The digitiser flex is probably damaged or screen is cracked. You could try backing up your phone and resetting your phone to factory settings. I fear you need a screen replacement , in fact I’m certain you do!.

I have the same problem. Can you help me fix this issue
as you can see in the picture the highlighted color means it touched but in the upper of the screen has no color on it so it means that the upper of my screen is not working. You can try it in your phone just dial and put a (*#*#6484#*#*) and it will open then choose the touch sensor.

Sorry same as the above answers the digitiser can’t really be fixed once damaged. The only real cure is a screen replacement. It’s not impossible that re-seating the screen could fix it , it could make it worse also. Even if it did fix it, the issue would soon return in my experience.
