TV won't turn on - "V" icon on front 2 x quick flashes every 3 seconds

TV model is Sharp Aquos LC-46LE820X LCD (purchased in 2011)

When trying to turn it on, there is no sign of life other than the front panel "V" icon flashes with 2 quick flashes, which repeats every 3 seconds.

I understand the type of icon flashing indicates different fault codes. Does anyone know with this flashing indicates?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Oldturkey03, I went through your list of checks and can advise as follows;

# Unplugged TV then plugged it back in & turned on after 5+ minutes. The double quick flash was the only life visible on the TV.

# I pressed the menu button and the flash sequence changed to 2 quick flashes, then after 3 sec 1 quick flash. This sequence repeated ongoing.

# I then pressed Vol-, Input & Power buttons on remote, but the sequence didn't change. Tried the same button on the TV without any change either.

# During the above, the screen remained off.

I just received an email from Sharp's Support department stating "2 flashing lights indicate a Power Failure in The PWB Board". Not sure if your assessment would also indicate this?

I tried uploading a short video of the double quick flash (not sure it it came through).

@geoffs74841 that is usually the error for a failed power board. Try this. Unplug your TV or a few minutes. Then plug it back in. Now check the flashing and tell us what you see. Should it flash o e long and one short, hold Input and Vol- and press Power. Now let us know what happens.

Also try and press the Menu button on the remote. Let us know what happens. By pressing the Menu key on your remote you invoke the high speed blinking which gives more details then the low speed original blinking you see. Error LED Blinking

If it is a backlight issue hold Volume -, Source and Power together to override the protection and the blinking. Let us know what you find out. You might get a partial screen if it is the backlight

After that, remove the back cover and post some good images of all of your boards with your question. Let's see if we can find any abnormality. Hopefully we can tell you where to check voltages with a meter to make determination what has failed.

@geoffs74841 yes, the power board is what I'd be checking as well.
