Wet iPhone keeps restarting, don't want to restore and delete pics

My iphone 4 got dropped in the toilet (by my 1 year old...) so I'm not sure how long it was in there. Long enough that the battery is fried I guess, though. I haven't synced it in a few months so there are pictures I'm trying to recover but am not sure how. I try connecting it to iTunes, but it won't stay turned on long enough for the computer to recognize it.

In short: Any ideas on how to get the pictures off even though it won't stay on and isn't recognized by computer and hasn't been synced in months?

BriannaR, the more you mess with it without fixing it, the greater your chance of losing your info. It is time for you to disassemble your phone, use these guides to assist you with that. Once you got this done, use this guide to clean it. It was written for a 3G but applies to your phone as well. When all this is done, and you phone does not show any further corrosion, replace the battery (just like hello suggested) and re-evaluate for any damage, if any. Just like mentioned before, there is no other way of getting to your information. If you have done a backup prior for the iPhone getting dunked, the information should also still be available through iTunes. Hope this helps, good luck.

My phone turns on when not plugged in to anything and tells me it needs to be connected to iTunes, but once I plug it in to the computer, it shuts off and won't stay on. Any idea why this is happening? Or what could be the cause or solution?

Corrosion to the logic board or the dock connector shortening out can be one cause of that. Anytime you are dealing with water damage, the devices come up with different and often multiple errors. That is why it is so important to clean it properly quickly.

You are not going to get anything of if it won't turn on! Try starting with the cheapest thing first. The battery. Then, if that doesn't work try the logic board.
