Touch stopped working and a week later screen doesn't work

A week ago my phone touchscreen would intermittently stop working, I found temporary fixes in popping my screen off and holding at certain angles, making me think it is damaged wiring on the connection cable itself, but last night when readjusting my screen the touch didn't come back on, and this morning no matter how I reconnected my screen, the screen wouldn't even turn on. Though when I go to restart I can feel the phone vibrating so I know it's on. If I could get an answer that hopefully doesn't mean a whole new replacement screen, again, I would be very grateful. I'm hoping to hear back soon, because my college education system uses a two step authentication that only goes to my phone and on campus IT support is down for spring break.

It sounds like a defective or damaged screen. Screens have two main parts: Digitizer (what senses touch) and Display (what shows you something). It's possible to crack either, but you can also break the digitizer by dropping the phone even when a crack isn't obvious. Usually this manifests as "dead spots" where areas of the screen won't respond to touch, "ghosting" where the screen moves on its own, etc.

I'd try a new screen.
