Black and Decker toaster oven can't get on off button to work unless

I have an older Black and Decker toaster oven smaller model and i can,t get the red light on off button to work unless i open the door.. Is that a simple fix ? I can send you a picture if you want. I have to unplug it. I,m at mrb2007@mymts.net. Manitoba Canada
