:( R.I.P. Water damage is never good. If you don't have the "know how" and tools you'll have to take it/send it to a repair shop. There's no 'external' way to fix water damage.

..but cant you just dry it somehow? cuz my 3ds works and all, just not the apps. somebody had this.. but it was on thier 3ds XL (no new) and its smthg abt the wifi bored i think.. so..

@wyattd No, you can't just dry it somehow. The professional way to do it is to disassemble the entire unit then bathe the circuit board(s) in an ultrasonic bath of isopropyl alcohol to eliminate all of the moisture in order to prevent corrosion, which is the real danger here. Unfortunately it sounds like the corrosion is already happening so it's that much more important to open it up and at least use a soft toothbrush to clean off all of the circuit boards with 90% or higher concentration of rubbing alcohol.

That's your best shot at getting it working again; left alone it will almost certainly not get better on its own and is quite likely to get worse.

by

@wyattd This is correct, you cannot simply "dry it off" and everything will be fine. It has to be opened, inspected, tested, and repaired. Even IF "repair" ends up just being removing corrosion. Best case scenario, corrosion removal. Worst case scenario....damaged components from liquid damage. :(

thanks though! I juzt care abt my streetpass and otherz, i'm just scared that when i prob get a new one, im gonna have to trasnfer my network id.

by

@wyattd That is correct. Nintendo 3ds System Transfer; plaza data, nnid etc are transferred over to the target system. Provided the system transfer is completed successfully. Good luck!!

Heres a picture of it @rebtech inside of it and 2 of the connectors disconnected sadly, and i can put them back, but its not gonna help even when it boots on since that happened when i looked inside of it 2 days ago. (as i said, none of the apps work, (i opened Miitopia) but all 38 apps don't work, & system apps, the ONLY app that works is Tri Force Heros. *the only thing i remembered is that i deltled some DLC of it.. (sorry for the bad images, i was using my windows camera lol.

Those connectors are just for the shoulder buttons. It really does need to go under the microscope and multimeter for a complete diagnostic. Liquid damage can sometimes not be seeable by the naked eye. Sometimes it isn't the "corrosion" caused by the liquid that's the main issue, sometimes it's a shorted component, or both.

Just out of curiosity though have you tried booting it without the sd card in?

by

yes. its not the sd card reader, i tryed other sd cards too that used FAT32.

by

i know they are the soulder buttons but what i notice is that the L or the R buttons do not work and the X button.

by

@rebtech but heres the thing, it worked COMPELETY one time, i recorded it but i lost it. so how would it work all the way SOMEHOW? if its now broken? i didn't do anything to make it worse.. sorry if this is a lot of imformation.. i had it since 2017.

by

@wyattd Yeah it definitely needs to go for a full diagnostic and repair. It could be so many different possible things. All of which will require the tools and knowledge to suss out. Sorry I don't have better news for you. :(
