Problems after replacing Power & Sensor cable
My iPhone 4 (AT&T) recently took a short fall off of a couch onto a hardwood floor. Nothing cracked, the only issue was the power button would no longer depress correctly.
After running my iPhone battery dead, since I couldn't power it off, I carefully took it apart and verified that the power and sensor cable was missing the tiny black nub on the power button.
I put the iPhone back together and powered it back on with my chargier. It came back on with no issues, everything else worked.
I ordered the Power & Sensor cable from iFixit. After receiving it, I drained the battery again so the phone would power off and carefully replaced the cable. I was sure to take all of the parts off the old cable that weren't included with the new cable.
After installation (no cables torn, everything intact), I powered the iPhone back on. This time though, successfully powered on and off with the power button!
However, there was a huge issue now. The screen resolution was horrible and there were "lines" running horizontally across the screen. It basically looks like going from HD to SD (maybe worse). There's no flickering at all though.
The other issue is that the proximity sensor does not seem to be working. I did a few test calls, and the LCD is not blacking out when I bring the phone to my ear.
I've tried searching, and all I'm seeing is that either my cables aren't connected well or that the screen is bad. Considering how carefully I proceeded with the repair, and the fact that the screen was fine before I replaced the cable, I really don't think the screen or screen cables are bad.
Anyone else have this issue? Is it possible that I have something wrong with my power and sensor cable that's causing the issue with the screen?? Thanks!!!
Is this a good question?
