Spin cycle manually kickstart before working on it's own

My washer works fine until it gets to the spin cycle. It doesn't want to initially spin on it's own, so I have to keep lid switch tripped and manually "kickstart" the spin cycle. Once it completes, I can then re run the spin cycle on it's own without any issues. Can't determine if it's the clutch, springs or something else. Any suggestions?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi @stonepitbull42

It seems like it may be the clutch assembly but if you're also having problems with the wash cycle e.g. intermittently not agitating etc, then it could be a worn motor coupling as this can also affect the spin action as well.

The supplier linked was only because it was useful in that there are videos for how to replace the components and it also shows the manufacturer's part number for each part. The Whirlpool part numbers, are shown in the parts list for your model

If you find out which part is the problem, search online using the manufacturer's part number for the faulty part (not the parts supplier's part number), to find suppliers that suit you best.
