Why can't I close the pop up flash?

my pop up flash would not close, even though their are no broken elements what so ever within the camera or the flash system

Do you mean it's open and it won't move so you cannot close it, or that when you close it, it pops back open again?

yep the latter, it pops back and opens again

@hanyalbaghdady if your flash does not stay closed, it is possible that this is caused by a bad latch. Turn your camera around and look at the flash housing. Next to the hole that catches the hook in the body should be a very small Allen screw. Gently try to turn it to adjust the latch. If that does not work or if there are other issues. Check the Assemble/Disassemble part of the SM Nikon D3100 for your camera. Let us know what you find.

If you need to change the hook, check something like this video (not your exact model but close enough to get an idea)

Thank you for the detailed answer, but im looking for the alen key screw in the flash housing and it only has two small Phillips screws within this area. I wish their was a way to attach a photo it would explain alot.
