Why does my iPhone keep on turning on and off?

Ok, so one day, my iPhone 3GS runs out of battery, so I put it on my iHome stereo/charger. After a while of it charging, it turns on, with only the Apple logo on it. Then, it turns off. It does this repetitively, even wnen I took it off the charger, and I can't text anyone. Can I please get an answer?? It's starting to tick me off :(

Jonathan, the way you describe the problem, my first choice would be to replace the battery. iDevices, especially the iPhones, behave very strange once the battery is depleted. I am certain that a simple battery change will resolve the issue. Good Luck.

This is Jonathan, and the phone is pretty new, considering the fact that I got it for Christmas of 2011. Thankyou for helping though. :)

Sure, it may be new to you. The battery may actually be quite old, but just a suggestion. Good Luck :)

I just replaced the battery with the brand new one in the certified iphone repair shop. I am experiencing the same - apple logo shows then disappears and so on. With the old battery everything was just dead, nothing on the screen
