5k iMac 2015 what's the highest cpu. I can upgrade to in 2023?

i have a I Imac 27 inch 5k with a i5 but want to upgrade ande wonder what's the newest cpu I can go for with a 1151 socket

You need to stay within the CPU’s series. As the firmware within your iMac is designed for it. That would be a 4.0GHz Core i7.

Review this iMac17.1 Series

Use the compare feature to see what your system is now and what the i7 can offer. Consider the cost and risk!

You may want to instead focus on the systems RAM and improve the systems storage getting a faster SSD if you have a HDD and if you need still more look at expanding your drives with a PCIe/NVMe blade drive.
