OEM stick or Gulikit stick can't go right or left, video included.

Here's a video of my issue, any tips? I've tried reseating the cables, but no luck.

I tried thumbstick_cal and no luck, not sure what's up, tried battery storage mode, no luck there either.

Jeez sorry to hear, if the OEM and Gulikit stick are doing the same thing I would first reset the device, just because linux based driver issues can be a real pain.

If that doesn't fix it check if the ZIF connector was damaged (the place you slide the cables into). Check for crossed or missing wires inside, if it pulled away from the board at solder joints or if the the plastic tab that secures the cable down isn't holding.

If it wasn't those I would suspect a specific failure of the chip that handles the input from the joysticks. I think that would be the "ITE Tech IT5570VG Embedded Controller". Probably unlikely because I'd think you'd see other input controls having issues but nothing is above suspicion.

I don't suspect the joy sticks themselves since its unlikely both would experience the exact same failure. It is possible though...

I hope the reset works for you. I hate replacing ZIF connectors, they are very melty. The chip would be a real pain without a board preheater and rework station, if replacement chips are even available...

Hey! When you say reset do you mean like full on reset of steamos? :O

Yeah, if you want to check ZIF connector first thats fine. I just think software solutions are best to get out of the way first. since they don't require extra disassembly or buying additional parts. Backup whatever you need first. Not sure how well the save game backups keep with the steam account.

You could try the Reinstall Steam OS option from this article first

Gotcha, I've already peeped the zif connector

Reinstalled steamos, no luck. Valve wants me to pay 145$ for a repair.
