Door does not know if it's open or closed

I was unloading my dishwasher my toddler came over and slammed the door closed very hard. I opened it up (took screws out and looked inside the door) the door Nothing physically broke the latch still works I checked all the plugs in the door circuit boards for discoloration or physical damage nothing seemed to be out of line any ideas as to what could of happened.

It's a fridgid air gallery with the buttons on the top lip anti kid and is just a pull open no manual handle.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @mikehurst

You may have to check the door latch switch with an Ohmmeter (disconnect the power to the dishwasher first) and check that it is operating OK. It has two sets of contacts.

Here's some info that will help.

wiring diagram, service manual

@jayjeff hello I tested the door switch in both open and closed positions with a ohm meter and everything seems to work switch says it's open when it is and closed when it is.

It's been some time since I used this dish washer and when I open the door with power on it shows code 199 and if I hold start and temp it showed code 191. For 20 seconds about. Hope that helps. I can't seem to get it to run a test cycle (what holding start and temp should do right)

When the door is closed the omhs metter shows 000.0 when testing top and bottom on the same side

Looking at the service manual you have to press Dry and Start/Cancel to enter the service tests.

The error codes you mentioned aren't shown in the manual so I'm hoping that I uploaded the correct manual as it is the one I found here

@jayjeff

When I disconnected the power and reconnect I also see 188.

When I pushed dry and start/cancel a code of 175 came up.

Dry and start at the same time definitely had better results.

It must be the wrong service manual then because it doesn't show anything like what you say is happening.

None of the error codes are digits they're all letters.

Very strange as most of the model number is the same except for the last two letters.

What is relevant with the service manual however is that the wiring diagram is identical with the one for your model so even though you tested that the door switch was OK maybe test that the wires that connect to it have continuity to where they appear on the control board and one side of the heater element.

Slamming the door may have fractured a wire going from the switch to the board. There are two contacts for the switch, connecting both the active (L1) and Neutral wires.

The active goes through the switch operated to P6. Since the dishwasher has power presumably it connects to P2/5 OK but that does not go through the switch operated i.e. door closed. Ditto for the Neutral wire where it goes to P2/6 again without going through the switch but it connects the heater and other components when the door is shut.

Just what I'd check now.
