Repaired slide lock, now console won't recognize joy-con when attached

I recently used this website to fix the locks inside the right joy-con so it wouldn't just slide off when in use. While doing so, the gold banded wires with the small, slide clip on the end (don't know the technical term, sry) both detached from the main body of the joycon.

I was able to get the bottom-most one reinserted and fussed with the other for an hour before realizing I could remove the battery and the housing and insert it more easily. In reconnecting that, the gold-banded wire at the top of the controller that connects to the battery housing disconnected, so I reconnected it, too.

Now the system recognizes the right joy-con as having been taken off the main unit, but not as part of the unit when slotted in. How can I fix this?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Can you add some pictures of these "gold banded wires with the small, slide clip on the end"? I think I know what you mean, but it'll help to have pictures

It seems that the bottom ribbon cable may not be correctly installed or that it has been damaged. Go on and reconfirm that it's seated properly, as that cable allows for handheld play as well as charging. If you find that it will not function despite confirmation/reseating, you may need to purchase a replacement rail for your Joy-Con, as that is the relevant component. Before doing so, it's worth confirming whether or not the Joy-Con is charging as a troubleshooting step and possibly resyncing it with the console if it does receive charge.

I've attached one of the useful and relevant guides here for reference where replacement is concerned. While the process should be the same for either side, the parts for left and right are mirrored, so be attentive to which side you purchase for if you do go that route.

Hope this helps!
