My "Y" button won't register all button presses

I left my pokeball 2ds xl alone for a day of monster hunter gaming, and I came back to it not registering all my "Y" button presses, how can I go about this?

I tried canned air and isopropyl alcohol and the button got a bit better.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Sounds like some dirt got inside your console. Use this guide to get to the buttons, and clean the buttons themselves, the rubber pads under them, and the metal pads on the motherboard. (use IPA for that one obviously). If it still doesn't work, the next step would be replacing the metal dome sticker (it would probably be listed as "for 3ds", but they're the same piece). And if you have CFW, you can download 3ds-test to test your buttons.

Like the previous comment, you probably have some inside the button. The dirt can limit button travel or contact of the switch itself. TronixFix has a quick video on how to clean devices like this without disassembly.

Essentially, you just spray some BW-100 (non conductive electronics clean that evaporates quickly) and pressure the button repeatedly to work the dirt out.

I’ve linked his YouTube short on how he cleans an Xbox controller button with it.
