Can't add fingerprint

After replacing the home cable button because from the first one I teared off the socket while changing screen my Touch ID still doesn't work. Before it would say that it has failed etc, but now it doesn't say anything and I can try to setup new fingerprint. When I try to do that though, it doesn't say anything and doesn't read the fingerprint no matter how much I clean it and what fingerprint I use. Is there any way to fix it?

EDIT: Opening phone again, unplugging both button and cable and giving them a bath in alcohol fixed the issue!!!

Sorry bud, but you're out of luck. The home button must be paired to the logic board in order for Touch ID to work, and only Apple has the capability to do that pairing. So in the case of a damaged home button, the only thing you can get back is the button function; Touch ID is not restorable except by Apple.

With a phone that old, I'm skeptical you could even get them to do the repair, so I'm sorry but your Touch ID is now history.

I see, well thanks! It's just that I have wasted a lot of money on replacement parts and didn't know what was the issue.
