Why isn't my laptop turning on?

My Alienware P42F doesn't power on. When I press the power button. It beeps 8 times and the screen stays black..... recently it started to beep 4 times but the screen is still just black. Any help would be appreciated

check the ram modules, this can be the cause of a black screen
