Why isn't my Wii reading discs after replacing laser?

I've got a Wii that wasn't reading Smash Bros Brawl, but was reading other games. I tried replacing the laser, but now, whenever I put any disc in, it spins for a couple seconds before stopping. I've tried checking the motor and made sure that it's working, as well as checking all of the connections to make sure that they're all secure.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

do you still have the old laser? put that back in and test. as you stated it was reading all games except one before the replacement, so its likely not faulty.

Unless you are running a "cracked" WII, its possible the game disc is from a region outside your area and wont read:

Usually the region is printed on the label.

I tried it with a few copies of the game that isn't reading, and none of them worked. I'll try putting the old laser back in and doing some more testing.

If you can provide the image from the top of the disc, as well as the country you are in we should be able to rule out the region issue.
