iPod 5.5gen will sync, but won't charge

I recently replaced various parts in an iPod 5.5gen, after a successful restore I realized that it won't take a charge.

When plugged into a power pack that monitors output it shows zero, so literally nothing flowing from a charging perspective. To make matters stranger, it still syncs to my mac fine. Any ideas!?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Douglas L bad battery, or worse a broken off battery connector. This series iPod had issues with the connector breaking off. I suggest you take it apart and take a close look at the battery (replace it anyway) the battery connector and finally the dock connector itself. Make sure that it does not have any corroded, broken or shows other damage. Let us know what you find out.

I kind of thought it would be a fault like that somewhere, turned out it was to do with the USB port and a faulty, albeit new, 3000mah battery. Having removed the port and replaced it with a USB C mod it was showing charging but not taking a charge, so, inspired by your tip tried another battery and it's working fine. Thank you for the suggestion.
