My ipod (30g) Second Generation i believe so, had a sad icon on the screen at first, i did the steps to put it in disk mode and as i plugged it in my pc, it was not recognized by itunes. i tried formatting it but it wasn't able to do that either!! someone please help me out here?

jikkoheon, at first make sure your battery is all charged up and that your USB connector on your computer is working okay. Also make sure that you are using a good USB cable. If all of those things are working okay, I suspect that you will need a new hard drive for your iPod. Also, when you change the HDD make sure you get a HDD cable as well. It is not a terrible tough job to replace the drive. Use this guide to see if you are up to doing the job. The HDD is available at many places, and it depends on your location where you purchase it from. Hope this helps, good luck.
