Hi @drtmb ,

Does it turn on with the charger connected?

If also not then try a power refresh and check if that resolves the problem.

Here’s the procedure:

i). Disconnect the charger if connected.

ii). Remove the main battery from the laptop.

iii). Remove the RTC coin cell battery from the motherboard - note the orientation of the battery before removal - usually it is +ve on top, so you know which way to reinsert it. Also when the battery is out measure its voltage. If it is <2.5V DC replace it. They usually last about 4-6 years so if it has never been replaced, replace it anyway. It is a CR2032 non rechargeable, Lithium coin cell battery that is commonly available most everywhere e.g. supermarkets.

Here’s the maintenance and service guide for the laptop. Go to p.4-8 and p.4-14 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the main battery and the RTC battery respectively.

iv). Press and hold the laptop’s Power on button for a full 30 seconds and then release.

v). Reinsert the RTC battery (remember the orientation), re-assemble the laptop, reinsert the main battery, reconnect the charger and try turning it on.

It is turns on there may be a message displayed saying that the date and time are incorrect. Once the date and time have been corrected the message won’t appear the next time that the laptop is started. Also if you had altered any user defined settings in BIOS to suit your particular operating preferences, they will have to be set again as the BIOS has been reset to its factory default settings by the above procedure
