11 G3 EE chromebook Keyboard sometimes doesn't work

My chromebook recently has had the z x c v m , . space bar and even the left shift key stop working, b and n are still functional, even more strange is that sometimes the keys work perfectly fine with no issues, other times they don't register at all, if I plug in a USB keyboard or use the on screen keyboard every key works fine, so I don't think this is a software issue, I checked under one of the keys and found no dirt, even tried to push down the pad myself, and the key sometimes still didn't register, help!

Hi @catlove ,

Here’s the maintenance and service guide for the laptop.

Go to p.26 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the keyboard/top cover assembly.

Doing this will allow you to inspect the keyboard cable connection to ensure that it is secure etc.

If it is then most probably the problem is internal to the keyboard. Most times when trying to repair keyboards you can create more problems than what you originally had and it is easier to simply replace the keyboard.

On p.24-25 you will find the spare part numbers for all the country specific, compatible keyboard/top cover assemblies. Search online using the appropriate to your particular model variant part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best
