I spilled soda on my laptop and now my screen won't turn on.

I spilled soda on my laptop keyboard but as soon as it happened I picked it up and turned it upside down and a lot of soda poured out of it. I then unscrewed all the screws at the back of it and took the back part off and tried to get as much of the soda out as I could. Then I put it on and it went on fine the screen displayed perfectly and there seemed to be no problem. I then put the back part back on and left the laptop upside down so that any soda I didn't get could be dried. I switched it on again now and the power button lights up straight away and I can hear it turning on and running the way it normally does but the screen stays black. Is there any way I can fix this?

Take the laptop back apart and scrub the logic board with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush. If there is any corrosion anywhere try and remove it with the alcohol and toothbrush. Check to see if any of the pins on the display connector are burnt out, if they are then you need a new display. Also check the display connector on the logic board. If its damaged you need a new logic board, but if you can micro-solder, you can replace the connector. If it’s still not working put it in a tub of alcohol overnight and check in the morning.

You should not have turned the laptop on after you spilled the soda. You should’ve tried to clean everything off thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol. Let this be a lesson for next time and hopefully the laptop still works :)
