Dryer is ka-thunking like there's a shoe trapped inside...

When I turn on my dryer there's a ka-thunking sound, constantly, when it is drying. It dries fine. It traps lint properly and no other issues does it have but that… seems to still spin too. But manually turning the drum is a little difficult when it's not turned on. What's the issue?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Trip Sanford III I wonder if it is binding due to an issue with the drum rollers or the bulk heads. Time to have a closer look at it.

To work on it use this manual (page 34 and up) Clothes Dryer Repair 787207 until we get the one specific for your model. The attached manual will work but may miss some very model specific details.

Hi @oldturkey03 ,

Have found out that the wiring diagram (+ maybe more) for the dryer is called PUB 3406685A. (Whirlpool?)

I can't find anything on it, except this link where you have to join to download but with your rep for finding manuals etc, you may know where else to look.

Cheers

@jayeff yes I've got a source just not the time;-) the attached manual is actually pretty good for what I hope is a mechanical issue with the drum. What's your opinion? Rollers? Struts?

@oldturkey03

I agree. I was thinking either the rollers or the bearing rings. Not sure whether it would be the top or bottom bearing though.

Cheers.
