motor head won't go back down after dust bin jammed

Brand new Dyson v8 Motörhead used it 1 time and when I tried the red tab to empty dust bin it didn’t work, but the head lifted up and now it won’t go back after I tried pushing it back down. Dyson is not getting back to me about this.

I took mine apart recently for a deep clean. It helps pushing the red tab down while sliding the cover back on. Make sure the cover is in the track/groove that it’s slides in.
