DFU Update/Restore doesn't solve the problem

Hi,

I have an iPhone X to try to help a friend get running again. It is constantly rebooting (Apple logo, black, Apple logo, rinse and repeat). I've manually restarted the phone several times and have also gone into DFU mode to Update, Restore, Update and Restore. The process seems to work (I'm assuming so) since the update goes through on the Mac and on the iPhone (seeing progress), then it will reboot. It's back to the stuck power cycling. Any ideas, or is it time to repair/punt and get a new phone?

Thanks!

Try to update/restore your idevice without the screen, frontcam and backcam connected to logic board.

Only battery and dockconnector connected to logic board and then connect to itunes and update/restore your iphone.

Apparrently, Face ID was coming into play during the reboot. Interesting.

Ensure that all of that still works, after using that ‘disconnected camera’ technique above.

I am very interested because my Xs has a failing Face ID, possibly because of a drop shock to the phone - works perfect otherwise. I’m wondering if an array cable came loose.

Thx!

Shed loads of comments about removing the ear speaker ribbon to boot a boot looping phone. First thing that should be tried.
