No picture on TV but there's still sound.

Rca rtu6549. 65 inch tv. Came home from work and my TV turns on but there's no picture. The sound is still working. Turned it off and on. Still nothing. Unplugging it didn't help. What can I do? Any ideas?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

With the TV turned on and the audio working try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen and check if you can see any images on the screen at all.

They will be very faint if they are there so trying this in a darkened room may help to see them.

If there are images there, then there is a LED backlight problem. Either with the power board, the LED backlights or perhaps the mainboard telling the power board not to turn on the backlights.

If there are no images there then there may be a problem with the power board or the mainboard.

In either event further testing would be required to determine what and where the problem is i.e. testing of the LEDs, voltage checks on the power board etc

Was there a power outage or a storm before the problem occurred?

Yes there is a backlight when I shine a flashlight on it. So what do I need to do to do that problem?

Presumably you mean that there are images seen on the screen when shining a torch at an angle close to the screen?

The backlights, if on, can be seen without using a torch. The screen is lighter than when the TV is turned off

If there are no backlights then there is a problem with either the bqcklights themselves, the power board or maybe the mainboard.

You would need to test for the power board voltages to find out where it may be and go on from there.
