MacBook Pro 2017 doesn't go to sleep when closing the lid

Hi,

My 2017 Macbook Pro Retina function keys doesn’t go to sleep when I close the lid. I can see the screen stays on even when it’s lid is closed. I’ve reset SMC and PVRAM and those didn’t work. Any suggestions?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Does it use magnets to tell it to go to sleep? If so, those may not be functioning.

Let’s check the hall sensor. You’ll need a small rare earth magnet and a steel paper clip.

Use the paper clip to locate the magnet in the lid carefully slide it along the face of the display just a little up from where the Thunderbolt ports are. Once you have that located, carefully fold the lid down to locate the spot on the uppercase use a bit of mask tape to mark it. Now using the magnet slide it across while your system is running the display should go off and back on when you are past the spot.

For reference here’s the location of the Hall sensor on your logic board

I think I've found the issue. One of the connectors on the logic board has a badly corroded pin. Do you know if those connectors can be purchased online?

Where is the connector? Take a picture so we can see it
