My Nook won't charge and a factory reset did not help

When I plug in my device, there is a solid green light that comes on. I read that resetting the device might help, but when I tried that all I get is a solid green light still when my device is plugged in. My device says it needs to charge, but when I plug it in I get a solid green light like it is fully charged.
