Spilled hot chocolate on it, now it won't charge w/ no charging light.

I’ve replaced the battery and cleaned up any visible gunk on the motherboard, but it won’t even give me the orange light when I charge it. I’ve got a soldering iron if I need to use it, but I’d really rather avoid having to buy a new motherboard. At that point I may as well just buy a new Vita.

I’ve attached photos of the motherboard, any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hi @parlock ,

Did you remove the shields covering some of the components and clean under them as well, you didn't say?

If you didn't remove the shields do not connect power to the board again until it has been fully cleaned and inspected.

What did you use to clean the board, hopefully Isopropyl Alcohol?

Yep, cleaning-grade isopropyl alcohol.

I didn't know you could remove the shielding, how do I go about that?

Thanks!

Hi @parlock ,

It can vary how to do this.

Here's a link that shows one way that the shields can be removed. Don't apply too much heat for too long ;-)

Other shields may have lugs that are directly soldered onto the board or clipped on maybe. Bit hard to see from the images that you posted how yours are attached
