Replaced the screen, now the touch screen doesn't work

I dropped my iphone 3G. ordered the correct part from ifixit.com , followed the instructional steps, replaced the screen.

aesthetically it looks great

functionally it doesn't work. I mean the touch screen DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. it won't respond to any touch. I can't even unlock the screen.

I re-did the attachement and checked all the cables being attached properly

Sounds like a faulty part to me. They are fairly common in digitisers. Take a picture/video as evidence of the error and contact iFixit to arrange a replacement.

Make sure you received the correct part, first of all. If you do, then contact ifixit.com like Martin suggested. The digitizer connector should snap in fairly easily. Do not force it. Make sure the phone is off when doing so as well. If it is on while assembling, you can easily damage something. Best of luck.
