Why is my 3ds dpad "drifting" (acting held right)?

Preferably, i’d rather not open up the system.

My OG 3ds’s dpad is now acting similarly to joycon drift and always held right.

It’s not the circle pad, recalibration didnt fix it.

I hope there’s a way to fix it without opening the system…

It’s on latest USA firm (11.10)

Do you know what could have caused it? Unfortinately like buttons the D-pad is just a plastic cap connected to rubber that touches the circuit board so unless you got a decent repair shop nearby you would probably have to open it up and hope anything looks out of the ordinary.
