Why doesn't my home button and touch id work?

I’ve replaced my iPhone 7 battery with the ifixit repair kit. However after this repair my touch id and home button stopped working. I’ve already checked my connectors and ribbon cables on damage a couple times and I can’t find anything. I also checked my home button connector and cable itself on the lcd. However all of this doesn’t seem to fix the problem.

Also soft resetting the device is something I’ve tried so far.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

If your home button was working before you changed the battery and you didn’t remove the home button from the screen the most likely explanation would be a really fine tear in the home button flex. It might be hard to see but if you could put it under a microscope I am sure it would reveal itself. I am not sure if iFixit supply the home button flex or not.

Check the circuit board components around the home button and battery connector. Sounds like you might of dislodged or knocked something off the board. Check for missing caps etc.
