Front and back cameras don't work (black screen)

Hi all. I’ve recently replaced the digitizer on my cousin’s iPad 5. Everything works but the cameras. The app opens and I know I can “switch” camera’s because the available options change but both are black screens. It doesn’t take a picture, or record video when the buttons are pressed (using the on screen button or volume rocker, it does register the button press though). I’ve already done a completely restore (updated to the newest iOS in the same process)

I will be opening it up but I thought I’d ask if anyone had a similar issue. Using the breakdown, both cameras are connected directly to the logic board. The only thing I can think of is that BOTH cameras became disconnected for some reason or another.

Thanks.

I can’t say for certain on the iPad 5, but usually on iDevices the front camera will not work if the rear camera is not in a working state. So for now, focus you’re attention on the rear camera (you can simply disconnect the front camera).

Check the Rear Camera for any signs of damage. The flex or connectors could be damaged and that’s pretty much all it would take to cause this issue. Sometimes the RCAM gets damaged while removing the glue residue from the housing.
