Install 2007 iMac's hard drive in a 2009 iMac as 2nd HD? does it fit?

Hi everybody!

I need help: I have an 2007 imac hard drive that I would like to install to a 2009 imac as a second drive, taking away the optical drive. Is it possible? Does the 2007 hard drive fit in that space? in that case, do I need an adaptor? is there any video or instructions how to do this?

I will appreciate any help about this.

Thanks in advance and kind regards!

The primary drives in the older iMac’s systems is 3.5” The optical drive carrier that fits in place of the optical drive only supports 2.5” drives as you can see here Installing iMac Intel 24" EMC 2267 Dual Drive

Simply put you can’t install two 3.5” drives internally in your system. Your only hope would be to find an external FireWire 800 case to house your drive. These are getting hard to find though.
