Problems with replacement SSD's

I have similar problem with my MacBook Pro 2015 it doesn’t detect my new Transcend JetDrive 850, and even in a OWC Envoy Pro case still not detected. Not even Disk Utility detects it.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

First the OWC case is designed to support the Apple custom Samsung SSD so I don't know if the Transcend SSD will work in it.

  • What was your system running for MacOS before you took out the original drive?
  • What happens when you put back the original SSD back in?
  • Did you contact Transcend to see what they say?

Update (02/09/2019)

You’ll need to get a real Apple SSD for the Envoy case. Or get the case Transcend offers for their SSD.

All is fine with original SSD I just wanted more space

So I purchased JetDrive exchanged it in MacBook used command +r and proceeded to install OS erased new JetDrive in disk utility, then proceeded with install and JetDrive vanished!

I purchased OWC Envoy pro to use old ssd as flash drive.

I reset Mac back to original os Yosemite before I did the swap out.

The OWC Envoy lights up when plugged into my system.

The original SSD works fine when put back in to my system.

Did you manage to solve the problem? I encountered the very same issue...

@Nico - Ifor could hit two issues!

The first was trying to install the JetDrive within the OWC Envoy case which won't work. But after putting the Apple SSD into the OWC case the SSD then worked in the case. He then put it back into his system at which point started working again! This sounds like it was a dirty connection.

The second one would be which was the macOS version the newer Transcend SSD needs the newer system firmware from High Sierra to work. So when the OS was upgraded.
