My PS3 Controller Won't Charge or Turn on?

My controllers for the PS3 will not turn on or charge full stop. I have tried resetting it and almost every other solution there is and nothing has happened. I really do not want to look at the battery which is something I have not done yet. Can somebody help?

Options

Clean the charge port with some rubbing alcohol

Can be bad charge socket or bad battery
