Help me turn my Panasonic TV on. I'm ready to throw it out the window!

My Panasonic plasma tc-p42x5 has no power coming in. No red light no green light, nothing that indicates power. I've tried the hold power button 60 sec. Hold both volume and power button. AAAAAGH! I'm so fed up with this TV. Please, someone, I'm begging you to help me with an answer. Thank you!

Hi @kristiv ,

Have you checked the wall power outlet that the TV is connected to, to make sure there is power available from it?

If the TV is connected via a powerboard (powerstrip?) to the wall outlet try connecting it directly to the wall outlet to see if you have power showing on the TV, just in case the powerboard (powerstrip?) is faulty.

Was there a storm or power outage just before the TV failed?

If power is available for the TV from the outlet, you’ll have to remove the back cover off the TV and use an Ohmmeter to check if the fuse (F201) on the PSS board is OK. Do this with the power disconnected from the TV.

Here’s an image taken from the service manual for the TV showing the power input circuit which may be of some help. The manual should also help with the dis-assembly and any further testing.

To download the manual, when the sentence below the Document preview box changes from This file is downloadable free of charge: ...processing... to This file is downloadable free of charge: Download, click on Download, as this is the link. Be patient it takes a little while to find the file.

If the fuse is OK then you may have to start checking the voltages (especially the standby voltage) being supplied by the PSS board.

Be safety aware when testing as there are potentially lethal voltages in and around the boards. If you don’t know how to test electronics using a DMM then leave it for the experts. It may be cheaper and safer in the long run
