Can I use an old MacBook's working motherboard for my laptop now?

Hello! My laptop recently started malfunctioning (my keyboard and trackpad has stopped working) I brought it to the genius bar and they said that i will need to rpelace the motherboard. I have an old macbook can I use the motherboard of that one? Sorry if it is a stupid question I am not very techy.

Nope! Each series uses a unique logic board layout.

Even within the same model as in the case of the MacBook Air the 11" logic board won't fit the 13" and even within the same sized models the logic board is different within them as well! This is also true with the MacBook's, MacBook Pro's and the iMac's.
