iPad Pro crashes under 80% battery

Hi,

my iPad Pro 1st Gen works perfectly fine while having over 80% battery. Under 80% though it often crashes and even while plugged into a power source, it wont recover. Under 50% it wont even launch the home screen, laggs etc.

Should I try to replace the battery or is the problem logic board related?

Thanks for answering!

Hard to say if it’s logic board related without opening up the iPad and troubleshooting. Normally, you’d start with the battery in a situation like this, as it certainly sounds like it could be battery related and it’s the easier of the two to repair/replace. Just be careful opening up the iPad Pro display assembly to get to the battery!

Now that you have replaced the battery, backup the iPad through iTunes and perform a DFU mode restore. I've found, especially with Apple products, with this is sometimes a necessary last step after a battery replacement. See if your iPad behaves normally afterwards. It might also be helpful if you had a USB anmeter handy so you could measure the voltage and amperage your iPad is receiving while charging. That may help us diagnose other potential problems.
