Rene, what new software did it install? Have you tried to restore your iPod? How do you know tha your hard drive is corrupted? Give us a bit more detail. Thanks.

Did you get it resolved?

Well I keep getting this error message when I try to restore the iPod back to the factor setting say that iPod is corrupted. When I first hook up the iPod to iTune a massage saying there is a new software update loading and then the iPod will be synchronize with iTune. Then the message come up again iPod is corrupted please try to restore.

Rene when you plug your ipod in, try to download a IPSW file from here , and do shift left-click onto restore, should come up with a browser, select IPSW you want, and it should do a normal restore to that version you downloaded. Let us know if this worked better for you.
