Home button doesn't working, BUT TOUCH ID WORKS,

My girlfriend’s iphoneSE the home button stopped working( after software update?)

She told me it started after the update. The button clicks normally, but the OS can’t recognise that. The figerprint sensor works(I can add more fingers). I’d like to make sure before I replacing to a normal home button.

Update (08/30/2018)

Alright, I opened the phone, I have a button from an old 5S, working well, but I found something on the original flex cable. Any idea where is this belong?

It was the part of the Home Button cable.

I suspect the flex-cable as damaged. I will test each lines, it will take a long time. Than I will let you know.

It’s in the middle of the flex cable.

Although button is just one, touch ID function and click related functions rely on different data lines and components. It might be something went bad along with the update but it’s probably just a coincidence. To not let anything untried before buying a replacement part you might first try resetting the iphone hardware by pressing home and power button together until it restarts..you can try a factory restore too as a second step after backing up your data. If those don’t work try reseating home button connectors..don’t forget to disconnect battery before touching anything else.
