My wireless microphone won't sync with my Xbox one

Whenever I try to sync my wireless headset to my xbox it refuses to sync and keeps flashing just like a controller would. Out of curiosity, i decided to try to connect a wireless controller to my xbox ( I have a wired controller) and the result was the same as my headset. I have reset my Xbox multipule times and i get the same result. Any advice helps.
