iPhone 7 earphones & call not working

Hello. My iPhone 7 only plays music out of the speaker when I plug in my headphones. It plays music normally when there are no earphones plugged in. Also, when I call someone I cannot hear them and they cannot hear me. On a phone call, the speaker button is dulled out, so I cannot click it. I’ve tried different earphones, cleaning the earphone socket out, and restarting my phone, and nothing works. Water may have gotten into my iphone at some point before it stopped working and I’m thinking that may have something to do with it. Please help!!!

ALSO, when I record a video and play it, I can’t hear anything?? I CAN listen to voicemails though, however, the only option is to listen to them on speaker & it doesn’t let me turn speaker off when listening to voicemails??

turns out that there was a glitch or something with the ios11.3 update that caused iphone 7s to have audio issues. The Apple store replaced my phone for free!

I have the same exact problem. But my phone is out of warranty but it started having the same issues after updating with newer iOS. Just wondering how I can be helped since this wasn’t my fault to start with.

It's audio IC (chip) going bad. Very common fault on these phones.

You will need to take it to someone that does micro-soldering or board level repairs to get the audio chip replaced.

I'd like to add that you must request that the chip be at least re-balled or better, replaced, and the weak traces strengthened with jumpers.

Otherwise the issue will come back very soon, and repeating the procedure to correct it again may lead to a dead phone. That's because the procedure is putting stress on the board.

Finally, be sure to pull a back-up before sending it for repair.
