External Disk doesn't show...cannot click reapair or verify!

I have a My Book external hard drive that I have had for years. There are a ton of memories on there and the drive is completely filled. I used it the other day and I can't remember if I ejected it properly or not. But now it won't show up when I plug it in. When I go to disk utility, the hard drive does show up! But none of the options are available! The "Repair disk" and "Verify disk" options are BOTH grayed out! So I have no idea what to do! My computer sees it it though in disk utility. I will say my Mac is on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.

Please help!! I will be forever grateful! Thank you

In disk utility, does it show that there is still data on it, or can it even read it?

by

@techilicious I believe it can read it! On disk utility it's has the information at the bottom such as disk description, total capacity, USB serial number,

etc. - I have tried clicking the "mount" and also "eject" buttons, but they fail every time.

Here are some pictures to show what I see:

Chosen Solution

try test with other computer

if same problem, it might be a external drive problem

*suggest test with other cable/casing board harddrive

So I just plugged it into my friend's Macbook Pro (2017) and it DOES show up! So on this mac, the external hard drive opens and works normal. So thank you so much for that suggestion - makes me feel better that the information isn't lost!

Do you know a way to get it to work on mine?

(I've also posted pics on what I see on my Disk Utility below)

UPDATE: So actually, while the plugged into my friends macbook, her laptop went to sleep. When I woke up her mac, i had a notification that the "disk not ejected properly" - and now its doing the same thing on my friends laptop as it is mine.

UPDATE #2: On my friends laptop I did the first aide (the option was available on hers because her is more up-to-date i guess)...which brought my hard drive back up on finder and then i ejected it properly this time

UPDATE #3: So After I ejected it from my friend's laptop properly, I plugged it back into mine and it now SHOWS UP! :) So I sort of had to bounce it back and forth between laptops but it works! Its unfortunate that it is so fickle and sensitive with ejection sand such.

But thank you for your reccomentadtion!
