Removed hard drive from My Book, works through USB but not SATA?

I'm attempting to remove the hard drive from this external hard drive to convert it into an internal drive. I removed it from the case and put it into my hard drive bay with a SATA connector and windows wants me to format it claiming that it cannot access the files, however through the USB interface with the hard drive connector provided it recognizes all of the files correctly. Is there any way to have it seamlessly go from USB interface to SATA without a format? Thanks!

The way its set up, the file systems are probably different and you do need to format it. You will loose all your information, but if you want to use it as an internal drive, thats whats gonna happen. Im not sure how much data is on it, but you could borrow a friends drive and copy the data to that and copy if back after formatting, copy the data to an old computer that has enough space, or even copy it to your current hard drive if it has enough space.

Thanks for the fast reply! I can always just use another spare backup drive I have laying around to back it up. Kind of annoying, but whaddya do.
