Why won't the camera recognize the lens?

My camera sends a message that it cannot recognize my regular lens and to reconnect it. This worked the first few times that I got this message, but then it stopped recognizing the lens altogether. The camera DOES recognize my zoom lens and I have no issues taking pictures with the zoom in place.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I have the same issue. It was with both regular lens and zoom. When I cleaned contact points, the zoom began working but not regular lens. I have less than 1000 pics on this camera since bought and am perturbed that it is already malfunctioning. A lot of folks have this issue with this camera.

I have a similar problem. I dropped whentype camera a mmHg d it does not swork since.

It does not recognise the lens which was in the drop. It does recognize another lens. But only the auto mode works. The shutter and aperture modes do not work..

Thank you for the response. I thought maybe I had banged the camera/lens somehow. But my local camera store suggested that I clean all the contacts in both camera body and lens... and it worked!
